It is good for alarms to sound unique.

I've about run out of alarm sounds --- buzzers (engines), gongs (bilge
    pumps),
sirens ( high bilge water), beepers, etc., and "I'm still adding on." And
    that
doesn't include the alarms in the depth sounder, gps, CO detectors, and
    several
    other systems. It gets confusing.

Last week my gps lost signal and started beeping and it took me a while to
    figure out
what wasn't a problem. I've thought a spoken message might be worthwhile
    and found
an inexpensive device on the internet that looks like it might do the job.
    In any
case it is cheap enough to take a chance.

I don't know if the output power would be loud enough over engine noise
but I might just find out. Now I just have to find out the best way to
    transfer
    $40US to India.
