Hey! I see you have the makings of an interesting boat there - not a
trawler yet, but it could eventually be one. It's an old torpedo
retriever from Naval Undersea Warfare Center complete with torpedo
rollers. Bet its got GM diesels. Are they sound?

I'll bet that old boat is probably pretty strong, and I would advise
trucking it to the nearest port of Lake Michigan and running on her own
hull to the Erie Canal, down the Hudson and thence through Long Island
Sound and on up to Boston.

I trucked my more delicate wooden Grand Banks from San Diego to
Galveston and thence by her own bottom to Panama City. My height loaded
on the truck was 18 feet. Since the interstate highway system was not
designed for that much height, we spent very little time on it. Cost
$7,800 in 1990. Your height looks like you'll be ok for the interstate
system, but I am unsure about the beam. Mine was 14 feet. I am not
sure if you trip some magic scale at 16 feet. Contact a number of
carriers and get their plans. You'll find one that can handle you for
MUCH less that a trans-coast ride on a ship going via the Panama Canal.
