    Bob. and others--

The correct link for this adventure is <http://www.arctic2003.com/>
where one can find this explanation of the record being sought:

"The Arnold & Son Trans Atlantic Arctic Expedition aims to set a
World Record for the first complete crossing of the North Atlantic
just south of the Arctic Circle in an 'open' rigid inflatable boat
    (RIB)."

Sounds like one of those record attempts that appears to have dubious
merit--unless it turns into a huge adventure.

A well-found trawler yacht with limited range might consider the
four-leg route for an interesting way of getting across the pond:

Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Battle Harbour, Labrador
    Battle Harbour, to Nanortalik, Greenland
    Nanortalik, Greenland, to Reykjavik, Iceland
Reykjavik, Iceland, to Cape Wrath, N. Scotland.
