I used a 66lb steel Spade on my 40' 35,000 lb motorsailor in the Pacific NW
(mostly mud). I was more than happy with it. It set instantly and never
budged. If you look at it, itjust looks like a more sensible design than
the competition.

Incidentily, it is now easier to buy these. (I imported mine directly from
Tunisia which was, to say the least, an expensive hassle). Glenn Ashmore,
an interesting home boatbuilder, is now importing these as a sideline and
selling them at more reasonable prices than West. (www.spade-anchor-us.com).
