Subject: TWL: Maintenance - Tighten Wires

Listees,
We just finished the installation of a SW2512 Trace Inverter/Charger. The
Trace will run the 20 cubic foot home type refer, ice maker, lights and
receptacles, TV/stereo. These are wired on a Sub Panel.
While moving the wiring from the Hatteras panel to the Blue Seas sub panel
we found many of the screw connections in the main Hatteras panel were not
tight. Including several of the main conductors from the grounds and shore
power (the Hatteras runs everything thru a transformer first, so they are
really transformer wires).
I will now add this maintenance item to my yearly list of things to do.
Interesting Note: My electrical professional says that not only do these
connection come loose due to the obvious boat vibrations, but connection
screws can back out just from the A/C current going thru it, inducing a 60
cycle vibration.
