(SNIP) I agree with Phil...except for the "close your eyes" part. Manual
synchronization is not enough of a bother to spend big bucks to make it
go
away.

Ok, I'd better explain myself. Geez this is a literal group, first AL
about the eyes shut, then Bob! When I introduce someone to the "ear
technique", I tell them to close their eyes so that they can FOCUS on
the sounds and vibrations the engine and shafts are making.

Clearly, once you get the hang of it, which is about 2 minutes, you
don't need to close your eyes! Yes, I have the con while their eyes are
shut!
