Subject: TWL: Window Channel

Several listees graciously gave me detailed instructions on how to
remove and replace the wood window frames and window channels on my 38'
trawler. This was last December.
I have further questions regarding the window channel needed:
1) Does the felt lining on the stainless window track REALLY keep out
water? I have looked at marine window channel at StanPro
(http://www.stanpro.com/) and I don't see how the water is removed from
the channel if it is trapped. Being in the Northwest, you certainly
understand my concerns!
2) Has anyone used Beckson window channel?
(http://www.beckson.com/channel.html) Any recommendations on this type
of channel?
The old channel I am removing is the felt lined stuff and it appears
that "scuppers" were cut out of the material after installation, but I
am not sure, thus the above questions.
Also, one other trawler related question: my mast has a wire trough
(for lack of a better term, where the wires for the anchor light,
spreader lights, etc. are located within the mast; on the forward part
of the mast) which travels from the bottom of the mast to the top where
the anchor light is located. What is the material used for enclosing
this "trough"? Where can I get it? I need to replace some wires and
since the material in there now is rotten, I want to replace it.
Thanks for your help.
