Chay Blyth on his counter-clockwise circumnavigation carried and used rocket
"flash-bangs." I have seen ads for them in gun "newspapers" and they are of
German manufacture. One type is loaded into an H&K 37mm flare gun. They are
available in several colors - he used white and I would use red (a less
blinding effect, I hope.) When he was being run-down he fired at or above
the bridge. It worked in his situation in the South Atlantic.
If done right, this could result in the ships taking evasive action (turning
to starboard) or waking up and coming back to see the wreckage and search
for survivors - maybe.
