I just updated the SW to version 4.04 on my Garmin 2006C - exactly like
the 2010C except for screen size.
Just call Garmin at (800) 800-1020 and ask for them to send you a
BlueChip with the update on it. You pay $50 via credit card. You take
any other chips out, pop the update chip into your unit, turn it on, and
a couple of minutes later it's done. Send the chip back to Garmin and
they refund your $50.
If you want to know what level of SW you have currently, poke around in
the menus under System, or some such. To see what level is current
(version 5.00) see the Garmin web site:
http://www.garmin.com/support/download.jsp
Select your chartplotter model, agree to the terms as if you were going
to download the SW, and then you can see the content of all the various
level updates.
