Rob,
My dock neighbor had about a 20 year old 16k btu unit that drew up in that
neighbor hood also. He changed to one like I put in & cut his amp draw by
about 40%! He's very happy with the change. I'm thinking it may be the newer
style compressors are much more efficient.
