Michael,
I would never tell you what you can or cannot do. I have learned my own
limits in this area by experience. I am extremely impressed by Richard G.
Cook's experience trailering a 29' 12000 lb boat.

In my little opinion there is a difference (not just semantics) between what
is trailerable and what is transportable. Many boats can be professionally
transported as you pointed out. Race crews are no doubt professionals at it
by necessity. I watch them every day at Seaview West bring in very large
race boats on huge flat beds and re-attach keels that weigh 10s of thousands
of pounds, step masts, etc. Is that "trailerable?"

I also watch the smaller boats at other end of the marina at the boat ramp
and know what they are going through. That was us! They are jack knifing
their vehicles, falling in the water, cursing each other for getting in the
way. Trust me, most of them are not having fun.

I merely recommend that you try it before you invest big bucks into this
plan. It was not for us.

FYI, in the State of Washington, where your favorite boat designer resides
and practices you must be an engineer before you can become a Naval
Architect. Naval Architecture is a subspecialty of engineering that
requires additional study, examination and licensing. He has done none of
the above. Nevertheless, he may have a special talent.
