I use a Garmin 126 (built in antenna on the bridge with no problems and
a Garmin 128 at the helm. The 128 has an external antenna, but I never
mounted it externally. When I installed it, I turned it on with the
antenna connected sitting on a storage box by the "front window". It
works so well there I just left it alone. Apparently it can see plenty
of satellites coming down the coast or going up. Numbers match the unit
on the bridge with no deviations. Been like that for the last 4
years....
