NOS and NOAA signed an agreement last year to develop new electronic
navigation charts (ENC's).
I wrote the following to the NOAA project contact. If any listoids know
what's going on, feel free to comment. If not, I'll post any reply to TWL. (I
believe C-MAP claims their charts are currently used aboard USCG vessels.)
"Mike,
Can you briefly tell me in layman's terms how S-57 ENC's will differ from
todays electronic charts, such a C-MAP? What's different that would permit
them to be used in lieu of paper charts for S0LAS regulated vessels?"
