I was considering a Deluo GPS (antenna) for my laptop until I checked with
Deluo. The current models are not WAAS enabled, therefore not as accurate
for location. Deluo told me that they are coming out with a new WAAS
enabled unit, and the current units can be upgraded with a software
upgrade, but I'm leery of buying now and betting on the come.

In the meantime, I'm setting up my Garmin 162 to feed the WAAS enabled
signal to the laptop. That will involve a cable from the GPS to the laptop,
but at least I'll get better accuracy which is what I want when I start
using the laptop and charting software with digitized/rasterized charts.

A side benefit of the setup is that I'm going to split the output from the
Garmin to feed route/waypoint data to the new radar.

The deluo USB unit is currently not compatible with all navigation software
products, some of which recognize input only from a serial (comm) port. You
have to buy and then give it a try with your software if you aren't using
software on the Deluo list of compatible products. I don't know whether it
would work through a USB/serial converter since it is set up to get its
power through the USB port.
