Hello All,
1. On another list I subscribed to before discovering TWL, there was an
impressive body of extremely negative opinion regarding the Rolls batteries.
Now I see some of my most respected sources discussing them as a premium
product. What gives?
2. In my current industry we equalize battery strings once every three
months for any manufacturers non-sealed wet cells, once a year for GNB
Absolyte sealed batteries. Equalization is mandatory for extending battery
life. Some of our major plants are 20 years old and still going strong.
Admittedly they are in controlled temperature environments and only fed
distilled water.
3. Using a hydrometer, we check specific gravity of the battery electrolyte
monthly and, on VERY RARE occasions add acid. I haven't seen anything
describing this practice on the list. Does anyone have an opinion regarding
these practices and their applicability to marine battery applications?
We hope everyone had a great Christmas!
