There is a slowly worsening problem on my Perkins 6.3544M port engine
which
has the mechanic stumped for the moment. I'm hoping that someone on the
list here will recognize the problem and have already solved it. It's
basically a high idle problem, but the sequence of events is:
1) When I first start the engine cold it idles properly at perhaps 600
rpm.

I have the same engine and although I have never had your problem
perhaps someone should look at the injection pump. Everything is
controlled by this very complex mechanism. It at least deserves
mention.
