Hans,
My 1981 also has large gaps around the doors. A PO put sponge rubber type
weather stripping between the doors and cabin side, attached to the doors. It
seems to work pretty well, but needs renewing, so I was just looking at them
last week. It appears that there's an easily removable (one screw) block of
wood at the end of the top rail the doors run on, and taking it out will allow
the door to be removed to work on. That said, I haven't done it yet, just
looked at it.
