This is a problem for owners of boats with an unusual underwater shape. Hull
protrusions such as stabilizers, bilge keels, "get home" props, etc. may snag
the slings and get damaged during haul out. The best suggestion is to have a
picture or drawing of the underwater portion of the hull to show the hoist
operator. Nearly as good is to mark the proper sling points on the hull. An
Albin 43 has a pretty normal looking hull, however, and I would suspect that
the marina was just trying to shift the blame.
