>>>Rule 66 solvent" sounds like California would like to dictate to the
whole
world what chemicals are acceptable.
I wonder how many other products have been affected because the formulation
was changed to accomodate the C.A.R.B rulings.
I find it particularly irksome to discover that some very effective products
have now been discontinued because California doesn't like them.

Don't sweat this one Arild, the California rules have been around a long time.
Rule 66 solvent is usually referred to as Odorless Mineral Spirits. The main
difference is the amount of Trimethylbenzine in the solvent. Trimethylbenzine
is the stuff that bits the nose real good and drives you out of the boat.
Most of the products are better with rule 66 solvent than with stoddard
because the rule 66 has better blush and wet tack characteristics. From a
product standpoint, rule 66's only disadvantage is higher costs. I definitely
prefer it to stoddard and would not shy away from products that use rule 66
instead of stoddard. In my opinion, all solvent based products are superior to
water borne products for marine applications.
