Get a set of cordless headphones and listen to some tapes or CDs. If you're
spending hours power sanding, especially with a noisy compressor, you should
be wearing hearing protection anyway. Another possibility would be to use
ear-bud style phones under normal ear defenders.

For long term boredom relief I favour talking books (AKA audio books, books
on tape). You can get novels, non-fiction, lectures etc. (Amazon gave me
21277 hits when I searched for "audio books". Often public libraries have a
good selection too, and they're free (except for your taxes of course).
