I have learned to be skeptical about claims such as "pure sine wave". They
are all modified sine wave to some extent. Just difficult to determine to
what extent.
I would expect an air conditioner (or refrigerator) to be much less
sensitive to the waveform than an electronic device using a switching power
supply. Assume that all modern inverters are not putting out a square wave,
but something close to a sine wave.

Chet, why don't you call Mermaid in Fort Meyers and ask them about their
experience with driving their air own conditioners with various inverters
such as MSW and Prosine.
Ask them if they have noted a difference in operation when comparing the two
power sources.
