Subject: TWL: Long Narrow Trawlers

Several weeks ago there was a discussion of long, narrow trawlers. I kept
waiting for someone to mention "Traveller" and the article on it in
PassageMaker and save me looking it up but no one did. "Traveler" is well
described in the Fall 1996 issue. It is an aluminum 52 foot/48 foot
(LOA/LWL) trawler with a 12 foot 9 inch beam displacing 44,000 lbs and
powered by a 135 hp Lehman diesel. Originally designed and built by a guy
named Jim Millett, Traveller was owned for some time by Brian Saunders,
currently of PAE who has since sold her. The last time I knew, the boat was
in the Solomons, MD area. The boat is a very interesting boat and anyone
interested in long, narrow trawlers would do well to take a good look at it.
