My 7" Furuno display not only shows marine traffic, but low flying (small)
airplanes as well.
I've noticed fast moving tragets occassionally, looked for the craft, looked
back at the radar display, looked back afar only to realize the target is in
the air,not on the water!

On another occassion, heading West in Long Island Sound in fog where the
Connecticut river enters, I saw one, then two,,,three...seven targets appear
within 30 seconds. I slowed to idle in disbelief only to see boats begin to
emerge from the gloom between buoys making a narrow passage (past Long Sand
Shoal).

In Nova Scotia in the denset fog I've ever (not) seen, I showed a pier image
on the radar less than a 100 feet ahead and it took all my willpower to put
the boat in forward gear toward the apparent opening...I saw a streetlight on
the edge of the peir long before I saw the concrete sides of the narrow
entrance.....It was so foggy in the small refuge, I could not maneuver
because I could see only a half boat length even with dock lights on the the
daytime..so I tied up adjacent to the entrance...stayed five days before it
cleared!!
