Well, I can write an 80 page description of every anchorage we've visited
in those 5000 miles, but I don't think most people would find that of
interest and a succinct summary is superior IMHO. I did also say it's very
rare in the cruising grounds he mentioned to have to anchor in 20' even and
what more needs to be said? Right at the moment we're anchored in 6' with
60' of rode out (soft mucky mud that doesn't hold very well -- 40' dragged
when I backed it in and 20kt winds are forecast). I can't really conceive
of needing 400' of rode on one anchor in the specified cruising grounds of
the east coast and Bahamas even in a hurricane (although I'm equipped to
add rode to the chain as necessary to reach that figure) -- it's an
entirely different environment from the PNW where 400' may be common.

That said, feel free to describe your anchoring experience in extreme
detail if you think it productive....
