I just went through this. If I remember correctly, it is $115 for a
station license and it is the same even for just a VHF.
i think it is because you are buying a MMSID (unique marine
identification number) and there are real costs involved with the
agency maintaining that.
On the plus side, I think the Radiotelephone Operator's license is free
after you get your station license.
