Similar to what we use, but Cap'n instead of Nobeltec. But I never upload
waypoints to the GPS, although I could. I let the computer feed the
autopilot
after setting waypoints in the software. If the computer should fail, I can
let the GPS feed the autopilot directly by simply selecting it as the input
source on the autopilot menu.

We use a laptop (Dell) running Nobeltec VNS, a single cord connects the
laptop to the installed GPS (Raynav 300) and autopilot (Robertson). This
provides the GPS signal to the VNS software, and the nav signal to the
autopilot. The autopilot simply follows the route. We have two Garmin GPS 48
units for backup. It is easy to load the routes from the laptop into the
GPS,
vs. laboriously loading waypoints into the unit manually.
