Subject: TWL: Electrical Service Question

Hi Folks -
I am upgrading the electrical service on our Krogen 42 and have a question
about the shorepower service. I am upgrading from:
the current dual 120 volt 30 amp circuits to
either:
A single cable 240 volt 50 amp service which I will split into two 120 volt
circuits inside the boat
or
Dual cable 120 volt 50 amp shore circuits
I am, of course replacing critical main and sub-circuit breakers and I am
replacing the rotary shorepower/generator switch (which is dead anyway).
Does anyone have comments on the relative advantages/disadvantages of the
two shorepower setups?
Also - I have the option of purchasing a four position rotary switch
(Off-Shore-Generator-Inverter) versus the normal three position switch.
This would simplify restricting what the inverter can power. Any comments
on this?
Thanks
Jeff
