Are there different current ratings for rope lighting? The PO of my
boat installed two strings of AC rope light behind the curtain valences
in the salon. Looks nice (mood lighting), but doesn't cast enough light
to read by and draws about 11 amps. The one compact flourescent I put
in tabletop lamp casts a lot more light and only draws about an amp
(buzzes a bit, but I can live with that). The rope light is nice but
with the current it pulls, I'd only use it on shore power.
