Hi Robin:

Good job.

I have learned to just yell for help when I am in a problem docking or
undocking situation. Your vessel is much heavier than ours and I am
sure it's a handful in gusty winds.

The point I am making is that us men are fiercely independent and don't
like to ask for help. But I have finally decided that I will eat some
crow and ask for help early in the process if it is available.

At Ilwaco one time, we were pinned against the dock with about a 30 kt
wind. I could have tried springing her out and all that stuff, but
there were two commercial fishing skippers coming down the ramp and so I
asked them to manually fend us off as we backed away. They gave me
"that look" that says "damn yachty incompetent" but they did as I asked
and I smiled and thanked them profusely. They probably added that
experience to their "damn yachty incompetents" stories. But it was
better than tearing up my gelcoat <G>.

Arrrrgh, Mates.

First, thanks to Mike for the weather updates and advice on the trip.

WOne little thing. My skills docking into the wind are still, shall we
say, ......developing. The side of an old Mark I presents a great deal
of square footage to the wind. So we made numerous attempts at the dock
before my good wife was able to secure a mid-ship spring which was all
it took. HOWEVER, if the 2 guys who just sat there in their d*.*
little sailboat in the next slip and watched my attempts without so much
as an offer to grab a line happen to be on the list........ may the
fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits!!!!!
