Arild,
I think that Peletier (sp?) effect coolers are fundamentally
limited to about 40F delta T. The way that freezing temperatures
are achieved is by "cascading" more than one unit. The cold side
of the first unit is attached to the hot side of the other unit,
thus providing a delta T of 80F, or 10F in the freezer on a 90F
day.

Peletier units are inherently innefficient, however, using 3-4
times the power of a good "freon" refrigeration unit. One
possible onboard use of Peletier coolers is to keep drinks cold
on the bridge while underway and plenty of cheap 12v power is
available.
