Had pitting bottom of aluminum diesel tank on former Albin 34, after only 6
years. Removed tank and welded new bottom (sides/top were sound). Used
three years before selling, with no leaks.

Current boat has small leaks both tanks (epoxied iron ). Looking into
cleaning out insides through existing and new cleanout holes (steam or
diesel cleaning with wand) and spraying inside with liquid sealing product
named microseal (www.microleak.com). Worth a try over the alternative of
cutting out old tanks, removing genset/engines/etc, and installing new ones.
Microseal works with any metal tank, so might be worth a try for your
aluminum tank.
