TWL: General 2 Battery System Wiring Diagram

As most of you know, having a previously owned trawler that has been wired
and rewired by various owners over time is often a major challenge.

I am looking for a general wiring diagram for a 2 battery system (house bank
and engine start battery) and an inverter/charger. I found a General Layout
for a two battery system at
http://www.jackrabbitmarine.com/reference/diagram_6.html ; however, I think
it may be wrong.

I think the inverter should be wired in series with a main house bank fuse.
If the inverter for any reason draws too much current the fuse would blow
and disable the inverter. The inverter in the attached wiring diagram does
not have the benefit of a house bank fuse protection. I am wondering if this
is the best wiring configuration.

Also, there is a 250 amp fuse in series with the alternator output -- is
this a good idea? I have a 100 amp Balmar alternator which was installed
professionally (previous owner) and it does not have a fuse in the output --
but it does have an alternator temperature sensor -- probably a good
question for Balmar.

I would appreciate any suggestions where I could find a general wiring
diagram for a 2 bank battery system (House bank and engine start battery)
and an inverter/charger.

Thanks,

Al
