I have exactly the opposite view. If you want consistent crimps with
an occasional screw-up, use ratchet crimpers. If you want consistent
screwups with occasional good crimps, use pliers.
I "grew up" in the aerospace industry, and you will never see anyone there
using pliers crimpers.
