Definitely agree with Arild on the above since I would rather risk a flat
battery than a sunken boat.
However, on a small boat that is trailered or winched to deck or roof, I
would not wire it direct if I was using an automatic pump with a float
switch. My preference would be a pump that must be manually operated and
power to the pump disconnected when the key is off.
