Easy job--only (3) 9/16" bolts and the pump assembly comes right out.
Yes, I used the new style waterpump ($350) which has the whole gear
assembly and the Johnson pump. Think about doing your oil coolers too if
they are old.

Phil,
   Did you replace the pump and gear housing with the kit supplied by
American Diesel? My pump kit just arrived from AD this afternoon. After
a few more applications of Kroil ( penetrating oil ) I'll be trying to
remove the old gear housing. If you replaced the gear housing too, any
tips?
