Subject: TWL: RE; Desitin / Penaten Creme Experiment
From: Dr. Al Miller (almiller@XXX.XXX)

After painting with Petit Trinidad I applied Penaten Creme (ordered from
Canada) to parts of the running and 1 side of the rudder and around prop. 11
months later, no sign of the Penaten Creme and significant barnacle growth.
I found no benefit from the Penaten; however, I like it as a hand cream.
The best protection of the running gear came from using Petit Underwater
Metal Kit (consists of 6455/044 Metal Primer and 4777/4778 High Build Epoxy
Primer) followed by Petit Trinidad bottom paint. No growth and no barnacles.
It might be that the Trinidad works best on the hard base provided by the
Underwater Kit.
Based on the great write up Micron Extra received in the April issue of
Powerboat Reports "Bottom Paints 2002" for Florida, I will probably use it
next time.
