Subject: TWL: Desitin experiment

When that boat was hauled and prepped in Sept. 2000, I smeared Desitin over
the prop, shaft, and Cutlass bearing housing.
This was checked by a diver when he changed some zincs in May of 2001. No
more Desitin was applied.
The boat was lifted yesterday to reveal a significant barnacle growth on the
hub of the prop, none on the blades, lots on the bearing housing and lots on
the strut out to the bottom rudder bearing. I think this was a success for
something under one year, then it must be renewed, which I did not do.
BTW the barnacles were thick along the very bottom flat surface of the keel
which was not well painted, which again says the cayanne pepper works well.
