TWL: Fuel tank levels

I too have fuel tanks that do not want to stay level-when I run on and return
to both tanks for some reason I always wind up either burning less from the
port tank or returning more to the starboard tank. I have replaced the
return lines entirely and the supply lines from the tops of the fuel pickups
(I am suction feed with tanks about 4' high). I must conclude that there is
some restriction in the port pickup, but short of replacing it (which is not
buried by built-in cabinetry but will probably happen when I do some
revamping this summer) I simply switch tanks from one day to the other when
making trips of any length. I too have an equalizer line but I find that it
takes a while for the fuel to "find its own level" and I do not like having
any supply fittings on the bottom of the tank open unless absolutely
necessary.
