(endsnip)
Not just on the south coasts. Last summer by dock neighbor was headed home
from Virginia in his Egg Harbor after a week's vacation. A squall blew up
and he took a direct lightening hit on his antenna. Every electrical device
on the boat was cooked, including the electronic ignitions on the gas
engines. Dead in the water in the middle of a nasty storm. Fortunately he
was traveling with another boat, and he had a handheld VHF, the only thing
that still worked.
We also had a sailboat take a direct hit in our marina on the Fourth of
July!
