Hi Paul,

Welcome back and congratulations on the early success of Doulos III.

Folks; Listen to this man. He speaks the truth!

Bypass filters do an outstanding job of cleaning up your oil but they can be
quite expensive and they take up a fair amount of real estate. Synthetic
motor oils are, in many ways, superior to mineral oils but they are also
expensive and can be harder to find when you're away from home.

As Paul said, both these technologies can help your engine to live longer
but the kicker is that you will have sold the boat long before that extra
life is realized (and it's very doubtful that you'll get a higher resale
price for having used them either).

When I post on the subject of fuel, lubricants, or filtration I tend to go
into more detail than was asked for at the start of the thread; Likewise I
tend to waffle around on questions of "What's the best *?". The fact is that
it's rare for there to be one right answer to any question in this area.
BTW: There usually are a few wrong answers! I usually try to give what
information I can to help people find THEIR right answer.

So thanks again Paul for reinforcing my own (not so humble) opinions.

Agreeably yours,

Alex
