Subject: Re: TWL: Exhaust rubber or fiberglass

Dear Bill,
The fiberglass exhaust tubing I have used (3" OD) is a
simple pipe, about 1/8" thick, made from fire
retardant polyester resin and continuous glass fibers.
I imagine that, like rubber hose, the glass tube will
be damaged if run without cooling water for any
extended length of time. Insulating the glass tube
from any wood or other flamable materials it passes
near would be a good precaution (you could use rubber
for this). Bends of 45 degrees and 90 degrees are
also available in this fiberglass tubing, but I used
rubber for my bends.
