Dan,
It sounds like there is a loose connection in either in your shore cord or
in the connector on your dock power source. A loose connection will build up
heat & burn even new cords up in a short time. I nearly ruined a new
50/30/30 splitter last summer the same way ($200 worth), & it was a loose
lug in my shore cord. You didn't say if the burnt lug was on the shore cord
side or the dock side of the adapter. Whichever side it is on will be your
clue about where to look.
