Battery acid is sufficiently diluted already that the caveats about
concentrated acid don't apply. But if you have a great deal of battery acid,
I wouldn't pour huge quantities of baking soda in it all at once -- you will
generate a ton of CO2 and a lot of sodium, what? sulfate? This is the
reaction in soda/acid fire extinguishers which were common until fairly
recently.
