TWL: docking a single

Subject: TWL: docking a single

I have heard essentially there are two schools of
thought related to docking a single.

1) Get the boat on a parallel heading as the slip you
are trying to dock in and let the wind or current
drift you to the slip entrance

2) Angle the boat in using forward and reverse.

I always opt for the second. What about all the rest
out there?
