        This incident was covered in the local press at the time. As
I recall the sub was running surfaced in the Straights of Juan de Fuca
in heavy fog. The sailboat was struck and sunk immediately. The
skipper was singlehanded and survived to be rescued by the sub crew by
clinging to the propane cylinder from his BBQ. The operator finally
won a lawsuit against the Chillers Navy but I don't know if he ever
collected a judgment.
