Nicads weigh the same or more than comparable Amp-hour Lead-acid.

The only advantage from a Nicad is as you draw power the voltage will
stay very close to the rated voltage. A Lead-acid will lose voltage as
you draw power from them. If you graph both types, the voltage over amp
hours for the Nicad will be a horizontal line at rated voltage until the
last 90-95% of the capacity then a vertical drop to 0 volts. A Lead-acid
will graph as a 45 degree slope from rated voltage to 0 volts as you draw
power from it.
