Rick,
Be very careful. I too wanted a dark blue for the hull. Talked to the
painter and he had 2 comments to make.

1. Dark colors show every small imperfection in the surface. To the point
that the prep for the paint would cost about 50% more for dark colors
than light colors.

2. Heat. I had the same thoughts as you. ie: It's on the side of the
hull. The topsides with be white. The painter took me over the a white
hulled boat in the yard and had me lay my hand on it. Then we went over
to a med. dark hulled boat and it was a lot warmer to the touch. Now it
these boats were in the water and had the sun reflecting off the water
too, I feel that the dark color would be almost to hot to touch in the FL
summer.
