Subject: TWL: RE: Salvage presentation outline from Solomons TF 2001

One point to note here is that a towing membership does not prevent a
salvage claim. While a tow from a "soft" grounding is simply a tow, a tow
from a "hard" grounding is salvage. The difference between hard and soft
lies in the mind of the tow boat captain and is heavily influenced by the
cost of your vessel.
Note that even the boater friendly Boats US towing contract requires notice
to the Owner if practical...but does not change the underlying principle.
If going on the rocks call the CG and claim your life is at risk - which it
almost certainly is.
