Mike.......The one pickup would get all the crud, even a few gallons of it
after a bad fueling. By having a pickup an inch or two off the bottom
allows a couple of gallons of bad fuel to collect and not affect your
running and water to weep out of the fuel. When crud or water get into your
filters its time to suck off the bottom of the tank.
