This passenger safety checklist is a great idea. A couple of items to
consider adding:
- rules for being on deck while under way or stationary (buddy, harness,
what?)
- MOB procedure
- lines (keep stowed underway, stay clear when tied-up)
I am just starting out and list like these will be helpful initially as I
learn the ropes and may even be helpful in the long run to be sure I never
miss an item (the airplane pilots use the checklists forever, right?) I want
to put together checklists for other tasks aboard. Do other list members
have checklists they could share for operational or emergency tasks? Some
checklists I want to prepare are:
- getting underway (from preparing to start engine to stowing lines)
- docking (from making lines ready to shutting down)
- variation of above for anchoring and mooring
- routine equipment check and log entry while on passage
- passenger boat systems briefing (heads, stowing gear, electric/water
conservation, etc.)
- engine room fire
- any other fire
- abandon ship
